Princeton Day School offers beginning to advanced levels of dance for its upper school students along with performance opportunities both in PDS and beyond. Dance styles may include ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and various styles from around the world. We also explore improvisation and encourage students to create her/his own choreography. PDS also now offers dance for 6th graders with a multi-cultural curriculum.
Budding choreographers may wish to apply to be a choreographer's assistant for the winter musical in the upper school.
We offer an annual professionally produced dance concert in the McAneny Theater each spring along with a more informal presentation at the end of the school year in the dance studio. Students have also been selected for the 92nd Street Y's Dance UP! series and for The Outlet Dance Project at Grounds for Sculpture.
Lower School students, though not enrolled in dance class, may benefit from periodic dance performances as well as choreography in all of the school plays and musicals.
