Princeton Day School offers beginning to advanced levels of dance for its upper school students along with performance opportunities both in PDS and beyond. Dance styles may include ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and various styles from around the world. We also explore improvisation and encourage students to create her/his own choreography. PDS also offers dance for 6th graders with a multi-cultural curriculum, a grade 6-8 PE dance coures, as well as an 8th grade musical semester.

Dance students may opt to look into physical theater in the Performer in Action course; take Performance Technique geared towards the beginning and intermediate student or Choreography and Beyond for experienced dance students.  Budding choreographers may wish to apply to be a choreographer's assistant for the musical in the upper school or make friends and have fun with one of the dance-related clubs (such as Kpop, Bhangra and Step groups).

We offer an annual professionally produced dance concert in the McAneny Theater each spring along with a more informal presentation at the end of the school year in the dance studio.  Students have also been selected for the 92nd Street Y's Dance UP! series and for The Outlet Dance Project at Grounds for Sculpture and our highest achievers apply to be recognized at The National Dance Honor Society.

Lower School students, though not enrolled in dance class, may benefit from periodic dance performances as well as choreography in all of the school plays and musicals. With enough interest, dance has been offered in the afterschool program for lower school students.
